Sustainability at Strukton
We are moving towards a climate-neutral, circular and inclusive way of working and producing.
We join forces with our partners to contribute to the safety, quality and sustainability of rail transport. In a safe and sustainable way.
Rail tranport is sustainable by itself. The emissions of CO2, fine particulates and nitrogen are lower for rail transport than road transport. Short lines and factory sidings are indispensible to keep freight trains running. Strukton Rail Short Line makes sure that short lines and factory sidings are available. We therefore contribute to the modal shift from road to rail. We always work in a sustainable way and are continuously improving our work to operate in an increasingly sustainable way, through remote monitoring, smart logistics, reuse of materials and electrification.
When replacing rails, sleepers, ballast or other items, we reuse elements that were released from the main track. The elements therefore become a second life. We only use new parts by exception, for example when this is required to meet quality standards. This circular use of elements at Strukton Rail Short Line is one of Strukton’s 100 sustainable actions (sustainable action #95).
Working on a better world can only be done together. We therefore work in close cooperation with other Strukton companies. We formulate our sustainability targets and CSR policy together and do the reporting on group basis. A lot of information is assembled on Strukton’s corporate website. Working together also means that we work closely together with customers, suppliers, engineering companies and knowledge and training institutes.
